Arélis in Boston
ARELIS is a organisation of designers who have grouped together
to promote textile art and recognise its modernity.
BOSTON SCULPTORS AT CHAPEL GALLERY is an organisation of designers
who have grouped together to display their contemporary approach.
These artists have stretched their hands across the ocean between
Paris and Boston. In 1998,
Arelis invited the Chapel Gallery sculptors to the " Cité
Internationale des Arts " in Paris, and in return the
Chapel Gallery sculptors will invited the fiber artists to the
Federal Reserve Bank in Boston.
This exhibition will be held from 12 January to 24 February 1999
Wool, linen, cotton plus bronze, stone and metal have been brought
together in perfect exchange and resonance between two art forms.
The work of art becomes conquest of space through the artist's
magic ideas and expertise. The aim is to show the youth and vitality
of contemporary tapestry which, the words of André Parinaud,
art critic and honorary president of Arelis, reveals "a
real willingness to open up by thinking that while nothing is
nobler than the discipline of warp and weft, nothing is larger
than the metamorphosis of creative imagination ".
